i just want to say that I do appreciate your newly added (I think -- sorry if I missed it before) AI disclaimer and I hope you keep it there in all articles going forward. but I will continue to maintain that even if you're using AI to synthesize your research (which hopefully you're fact checking, since AI hallucinates so much? but you say you have decades of experience in music so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here), I know I would be far, FAR more interested in reading these articles in your own words.

there is a reason I knew your articles were AI without needing any outside confirmation, and that's because they read like LinkedIn posts. your actual emotional reaction to the music you know so well is what I want to read. if you supplement that, if you rewrite some AI-organized research into your own words, so be it. but ultimately, I don't think I'm alone when I say that in fact this method does NOT feel authentic or exciting. otherwise I would never have noticed!

I'm not saying this to be a dick. I'm saying this to tell you that your background, your knowledge, your passion -- all of those things have value and you don't need the crutch. We want to see your actual thoughts, messy as they may be.

Gabbie, this message is what i was expecting in the first conversation. Thanks a lot for your comment, and for your time to add these thoughts here. Really appreciated.

When i started The Sound Vault, my only aim was reaching out to information about the songs i listen to for years, and create an AI backed documentation for me to learn more about them. No follower expectation, no growth targets, just using new tech and testing substack in terms of search capabilities etc. Check the first post. https://thesoundvault.substack.com/p/deftones-passenger

I save my all time favorite songs here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2ySuLqrD198tETkkEZXOU4?si=9dbba16140e44659

And document them here at substack with AI prompts for me remember them, and check relevant information about these.

The idea was: I nearly spend all my money on cassettes when i was young and the best part of these times are looking to cover's and memorising all the information there, musicians, comments etc. I had a lot of informations about the artists, musicians with looking to these covers and it was the best part.

I really miss these days. I still keep these cassettes. But after that, streaming services, mp3 etc. ruined this beauty. Music was a background comp after digitalisation. I am trying to change this with AI. Re-visiting my all time favourite songs, with AI backed stories and informations. I totally agree to add my own thoughts about the history of these but i need to improve my editorial abilities, my english etc.

This blog gained subscribers after i started to create articles about music discovery. I used new age tools to generate them but learned really valuable things from these articles that i don't have time & know-how to find them. This is where i like AI, brings the informations so fast but i agree hallucination part. I fix a lot of errors most of the time.

To sum up, i'll do my best to add my own words & thoughts, i need to work a lot on this to write in English. (I can easily write in my own language). But i will always bring valuable information and tasty music here which have interesting stories and feelings to share.

I must admit, i was not expecting such a good community in substack that i learn lots of things here, and challenge me to be unique and genuine. This is an awesome thing.

it definitely makes a difference that English isn't your first language! i understand the need to supplement (that is, use AI for editing!) in that case, especially as somebody who speaks multiple languages. but I really hope that you can become less dependent on it, at least in what you actually publish. of course what you do for your own use is your own business. but I promise you we want to see the real you.

by the way if what you wrote in this comment was your own voice (it sounds much more real!) then you have nothing to worry about.

This exchange is cool to witness. Thanks for having a real conversation abt it and discussing ai usage thoughtfully. Glad to see you, Gabbie, approaching with respect and an artist’s perspective, and glad to see Sound Vault listening and learning. These are really tough times, it’s encouraging to see this unfold the way it has. Sound Vault does have a compelling voice, when they use it freely, so I hope they build their confidence in writing for themselves!

Hello, we are just discussing and i am telling how and why i use AI. I always write for myself not for the audience, but i am trying to learn the substack community behaviour during this process. Thanks for your comment, appreciated :)

I’ve just made a mental note to pull out my Portishead albums for another spin. My favorite remains the Roseland NYC Live album, timeless beauty.
